  • D (Dust) – The smallest particles of tea after sifting. These particles are often used in tea bags to infuse rapidly for a strong and robust brew.
  • F (Fannings) – Very small broken leaves, which are slightly larger than dust. This type is widely used in tea bags.
  • S (Souchong) – The largest leaves closest to the bottom of the branch. These leaves are twisted lengthwise and are typically used in Chinese smoked teas.
  • P (Pekoe) – Leaves slightly less coarse and smaller than Souchong.
  • OP (Orange Pekoe) – Leaves that are plucked from nearly the end of the branch. Aside from the buds and flowers, Orange Pekoe are the youngest and the smallest tea leaves on a branch.
  • BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe) – Orange Pekoe grade broken in to smaller particles to infuse tea faster than the whole leaf varieties of tea.
  • FOP (Flowery Orange Pekoe) – This Orange Pekoe grade includes some “tips” and leaf buds.
  • GFOP (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) – Orange Pekoe with tips and flowers and are golden in color.
  • TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) – A large amount of golden tips are included in this flowery Orange Pekoe.
  • FTGFOP – Mostly comprised of golden flowers, leaf buds and the youngest tea leaves.
